Capricorn Coast: Adventure by the Sea - Suggested Itinerary

Arrive at Rockhampton Airport and pick up your rental car. Head directly to Keppel Bay Marina for lunch before boarding your ferry to Great Keppel Island. Check into your beachfront accommodation at Great Keppel Island Hideaway, then enjoy a leisurely dinner at the Hideaway Bistro and relax under the stars.

Spend the day discovering the island’s vibrant reef, swimming, snorkeling, or setting off on an adventure with a paddleboard.

You can also book a glass-bottom boat or lunch cruise, or simply unwind on the beach.

Take a hike along one of the island’s scenic trails, or relax by the beachfront – be sure to pick up a detailed trail map at reception. 

For those seeking more excitement, book a scuba dive or a private beach drop-off. 

Enhance your evening with a sunset cruise for a memorable experience. Overnight at Great Keppel Island Hideaway.

Catch the morning ferry back to the mainland. Stop by Emu Park’s ANZAC Memorial and Singing Ship before continuing on to Yeppoon. Check into your accommodation and explore the local boutiques, cafés, and Yeppoon Lagoon. For dinner, we recommend Vue Yeppoon.

Head to Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary to cuddle a koala and hand-feed kangaroos, or catch a glimpse of a turtle at Turtle Lookout along the Bluff Point Circuit in the Capricorn Coast National Park. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time exploring the Taste Capricorn Coast food trail, tasting local produce at one of the participating restaurants and cafés.

Head to the Capricorn Caves for the 10 AM Cathedral Cave Tour, then enjoy lunch at The Caves Country Pub. Take a scenic drive back to Yeppoon for your final night and indulge in a sunset dinner at Vue Yeppoon.

Head to Byfield Rainforest and check in at Castle Rock Farm. We recommend stopping in Yeppoon to pick up supplies for your 2 night stay.

Enjoy a guided buggy tour, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding rainforest and Byfield State Forest. Wrap up the day with a relaxing campfire dinner under the stars.

Spend the day discovering Byfield’s walking trails and take a scenic hike along the Bowenia Rainforest Circuit. Enjoy lunch at the Byfield General Store before returning to Castle Rock Farm for a relaxing evening.
