Itinerary
Your afternoon begins with a welcome gathering, in
celebration of the start of your journey across the country
and along the world’s longest stretch of straight railway
track. Spend a relaxed afternoon getting to know your
fellow travellers after you board the Indian Pacific and pull
away from Perth, leaving the Indian Ocean behind and
cruising toward the Pacific. Tonight, a delectable dinner is
served on board, featuring contemporary Australian cuisine
with seasonal and regional flavours.
Awake to see the sunrise unfold across Australia’s largest
outback town, Kalgoorlie. This morning, we’ll delve into
this mining town’s fascinating past and present, with a visit
to the region’s gold-rush era, now modern-day, Super Pit
mine. Decide how you want to explore Kalgoorlie on your
choice of Off Train Experience, including morning
refreshments.
Reboarding the train mid-morning for brunch, the
remainder of the day is on board at your leisure. Sit back
and enjoy the hospitality as you take in spectacular views
of the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain.
You’ll cross borders and time zones, entering South
Australia before dinner.
Late evening, the train will pull into the almost-ghost-town
of Cook for a nightcap, late-night bonfire and stargazing
experience.
Spend the morning travelling through the pastoral lands
and communities of remote South Australia as the Indian
Pacific cruises past the Flinders Rangers, Spencer Gulf and
the Adelaide Plains. Breakfast and lunch are both served on
board.
Mid-afternoon, the train arrives in Adelaide where you will
be transferred by private vehicle to Monarto Safari Resort,
approximately 50 minutes from the city centre and nestled
in South Australia’s expansive Murraylands. Monarto Safari
Resort offers an unparalleled escape into nature’s
embrace, combining premium accommodation with
authentic experiences, during your stay you’ll be
surrounded by Africa’s wildest animals. Settle into your new and well curated accommodation. This
evening, you may choose to indulge in the luxurious day
spa, laze by the two stunning pool areas or enjoy worldclass dining at the onsite restaurant at Monarto Safari
Resort
Today is yours to explore Monarto Safari Park via the
guided Zu-Loop bus experience, or a combination of the ZuLoop bus and walking. Monarto is the largest open-range
safari experience in the world outside of Africa and spans
more than 1,500 hectares and is home to more than 50
species of exotic and native mammals, birds and reptiles.
You can hop on and off the bus at the wildlife viewing
platforms and spend time observing your favourite animal
species, including Giraffes, Elephants, Lions, Cheetahs,
Rhinos, Chimpanzees, and more. Additionally, you can
enhance your visit by attending Daily Keeper Presentations
and booking a range of intimate behind-the-scenes animal
experiences.
Tonight, join your Sunset Wildlife Safari, soaking in the last
rays of sun on your small group guided tour. Enjoy
exclusive access to Monarto Safari Park’s Wild Africa area
after hours with ample opportunity to immerse yourself in
the vast parklands and watch the free-roaming herds of
African animals across 550 hectares. As you explore the
lands from the comfort of a custom built Safari Truck, you’ll
have the opportunity to observe and photograph the
African animals including Southern White Rhinos, Giraffes,
Cheetahs, Eland, Ostriches, and Zebras. Drinks and canapes
will be served during the tour, capping off the
unforgettable experience
