The New South Wales South Coast is renowned for its pristine, uncrowded beaches, whale watching, and charming country towns. Discover this coastal gem at your own pace, following scenic cycling paths that trace the coastline—all while having the logistics taken care of for you.

This self-guided 4-day, 3-night cycling adventure takes you from the beachside suburb of Thirroul to the dramatic headland and lighthouse of Kiama. The mostly flat route follows dedicated cycle paths, offering breathtaking coastal views and plenty of sights to explore along the way.

Sample Itinerary

Make your way to Thirroul (drive on train) and be met for luggage collection and bike handover, and ride the coastal bike path to Wollongong for an easy intro day. Overnight at seaside Novotel North Beach in Wollongong.  Cycling distance 16Kms + swim!

Savour the ocean scenery, spot whales and dolphins, visit the largest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere and ride the shores of Illawarra Lake on this fantastic day of cycling. Overnight in charming beachside Shellharbour. Approx 25kms easy + side trips with some hills up to 30kms+ in total. 

 Our cliffside ride to Kiama does go up and down some hills, but well worth the small effort for the sublime views.  Swim, picnic, fish & chips and fresh ocean air.  Overnight in 4 star comfort at beachside 'The Sebel' in Kiama. Cycling 15kms (+optional side trips making total around 25kms)

Enjoy cooked breakfast at the hotel overlooking the beautiful Kiama Harbour. Take some time to wander around lovely Kiama. We will make arrangements to meet to collect hire bikes. Kiama Station is close by for your return journey (or ask about private transfers if preferred). It is about 1hr back to Thirroul or 2 hrs all the way back to Sydney train.

Self guided cycling tours require participants to be adaptable and able to solve issues whilst on tour.  On call support is included in your tour, for emergencies, but it is expected that you will know how to repair punctures and make minor adjustments to gears, handlebars and seats if required, and if bringing your own bike, this is expected.
