Travel to Aix-en-Provence from Paris today and check in at your hotel for a three-night stay. Set out to enjoy exploring the city of Aix-en-Provence at your own leisure, taking time to visit the sights of this ancient Celtic city dating back to the 3rd century AD. Stroll down the tree-lined avenue of Cours Mirabeau, taking time for a coffee at Les Deux Garcons cafe or a visit to one of the many bookshops lining the streets. (Overnight in Aix-en-Provence)

Spend the day exploring Aix-en-Provence. Visit the old town of Aix or the Mazarin district packed with shops, markets, museums, architectural masterpieces and plenty of the fountains for which the city is famous. Remember to stop at one of the numerous markets in the city for fresh flowers and tasty local produce. (Overnight in Aix-en-Provence) 

If travelling during July and August you'll enjoy a tour of the nearby lavender fields which make this area so famous. the incredible stretches of lavender provide a riot of colour and scent which is an experience to behold. A visit to a local farmers' shop also provides the opportunity to take a little bit of this very special product home with you. Outside of this time, enjoy another day exploring Aix or venture to the local hilltop villages of Luberon. (Overnight in Aix-en-Provence) 

Travel on the TGV train from Aix-en-Provence to Avignon. Passing olive and lemon groves on your way, enjoy a taste of the Cotes du Rhone landscape before arriving in Avignon TGV station. Upon arrival, make your way to the center of town and check in at your hotel for a three-night stay. (Overnight in Avignon) 

Enjoy discovering the fascinating and atmospheric city of Avignon. the city, established behind medieval walls at the side of the sparkling Rhone River, boasts immense natural beauty and fascinating UNESCO World Heritage listed monuments. the city is proud of its papal legacy, centered on the incredible Palais des Papes, where the Pope lived in the 14th Century. Spend an additional day uncovering the many beautiful sights of Avignon. Explore the nearby Petit Palais and Palais du Roure museums, and experience the city's thriving street scene. Spend time wandering through the ancient streets and courtyards of private mansions before relaxing with a glass of local wine in one of the fantastic restaurants Avignon has to offer.
